In detail, the Palatinate dialect differs from place to place. However, the local differences are becoming increasingly blurred due to the growing mobility and are difficult for the layperson to recognize. The Palatinate language area extends beyond the area of the Palatinate, so far into today’s Saarland. Even 140 years of affiliation to Bavaria did not pass without a trace.
